2.6 Symbol

For different type of securities, OpenEx use different prefix to identify their symbols.

Stock – no prefix, such as MSFT, GE, etc.

Options – “+” prefix. For example, to quote a particular MSFT option in the Quote window, use “+MSQAT”. The prefix is not necessary in the Options Order Entry form.

Futures – “/” prefix. For example, to quote a particular index future in the Quote window, use “/ESZ2”. The prefix is not necessary in the Futures Order Entry form.

Currency – “#” prefix. For example, to quote a particular foreign currency in the Quote window, use “#JPY” or “#EUR”. Since currency shares the same Order Entry form as stock, you need to put in the “#” prefix in the symbol field when placing a Forex order.
