13.1 Options Quote Chain

To bring up the Options Quote Chain in OpenEx Pro, go to the menu bar Quote  -> Options or click on the toolbar icon or hit “Ctrl + O”.  When you see the Options Quote Chain window pop up, please enter your stock symbol of the options series in the Symbol field on the upper left hand corner.  The window will then load streaming options quote chain underlying the stock symbol as Figure 13.11.  An Options window includes the following components: the Level I Panel on the top, the Options Chain in the middle, the Order Entry panel at the bottom.  In the center of the Options Chain area is the options symbols, call symbols on the left and put symbols on the right, with the Expiration Date and Strike Price in the middle.  Left to the center is the call options price information and right to the center is the put options price information, each consist of fields such as Last Price, Net Change, Volume, Bid, Ask and Open Interest.

Options Filter

Since each underlying security symbol might have hundreds of options for different expiration and strikes, sometimes it is necessary to narrow the displayed options series down to a relevant range.  To do that, click on the Filter button on the upper right hand corner to invoke the Option Filter window as Figure 13.1.2.  You can filter by expiration month by either choosing the nearby months or by specifying a range.  You can also filter by strike price by either choosing the nearby strike price (meaning nearby the current market price of the underlying security) or by specifying a range of strike price.
