10. Level I

To bring up the Level I window, go to the menu bar Quote -> Level I or click on the toolbar icon.

General

To get steaming level I quote of a symbol, just simply type in your stock symbol into a cell in the Sym column the first column.  Once you type in a symbol, it will be saved to your stock list.  Your stock list will be retrieved automatically every time your login.  To delete a stock from your stock list, just delete the symbol from the Sym cell and hit enter.  (Figure 10.1)

For different type of securities, OpenEx use different prefix to identified their symbols.

Stock – no prefix, such as MSFT, GE, etc.

Options – “+” prefix. For example, to quote a particular MSFT option in the Quote window, use “+MSQAT”.  The prefix is not necessary in the Options Order Entry form.

Futures – “/” prefix.  For example, to quote a particular index future in the Quote window, use “/ESZ2”.  The prefix is not necessary in the Futures Order Entry form.

Currency – “#” prefix.  For example, to quote a particular foreign currency in the Quote window, use “#JPY” or “#EUR”.  Since currency shares the same Order Entry form as stock, you need to put in the “#” prefix in the symbol field when placing a forex order. To Quote a Currency Pair, use the format “#XXX/YYY”.  For example, #EUR/USD or #USD/JPY.  See chapter 15.1 Forex Quote for more information.
